Political Ideology Survey

Hey US Government students. Your assignment is to go to one or more of the websites and take the political philosophy or ideology surveys. Then, once you have been given your results, please write a short entry in the comments section explaining which survey you took and what you learned about yourself from the survey. Be sure to compare your results from this survey and the 25 question one we took in class. Were the results similar or different and how so?

Political Compass - this survey asks a series of questions that you may respond to. Submit your answers and your score will be plotted in a 4 quadrant graph explaining who you are.

Political Typology - respond to a series of prompts based on what you agree most with and then find out how you compare with the rest of America.

Political Survey - Read statements and check whether you agree with statement or not. Then your results will be plotted on a 4 quadrant grid explaining your politics.

Political Ideology Survey - Read statements and respond with whether you agree or not. Submit and find out your results.

Your results should be posted by 7:40 AM Friday May 29th, 2015. Write it well and complete the task for 10 points.
Enjoy, Mr. Thompson

  1. In following this assignment, I reviewed and took the “Political Ideology” survey. In taking the survey, I was once again given a “strong liberal” score (and was not surprised with the results). The final score within this survey strongly support the survey taken in class.
The overall results are terribly similar and reaffirmed the liberal ideals that were assumed within my character.

  2. For the assignment I chose to do the Political Ideology survey, which gave me the outcome of a Moderate Liberal. I wasn't sure if I really agreed with it so I decided to also take the Political Typology survey, at the end of the survey the result was Solid Liberal. When I was comparing the surveys the Political Typology and the one we made in class were most alike, to each other and to who I am. I know now that I would rather think about the well being of the people than about the well being of the country.

  3. For the assignment I took the "Political Survey" survey, which states that I am a moderate liberal. Which is what the survey we took in class told me so I suppose that's what I am. I agree with both of them and think I am moderate but leaning towards being a liberal.

  4. I took the Political Ideology Survey, the last one on the list. After finishing this survey, my results showed that I am a moderate! This is almost the exact same result I received from the in-class survey we took a few days ago. I think that overall, my political beliefs fall right in the middle, incorporating many beliefs from both sides.

  5. I took the Political Typology Quiz. My results said I was a Steadfast Conservative. This does not surprise me as this is what I got on the survey we took in class. Overall I am a conservative, with almost all my beliefs falling to the right.

  6. For the blog assignment I took the Political Ideology Survey and I am a Solid Liberal. This does not surprise me too much because I am leaning on the left side as a result to our class demonstration and survey that we took in class. I have some conservative views on certain issues, but overall I am more liberal than I am a conservative. I also read my peers comments on their results for the surveys, and I agree that I care more about the well being for the people over the well being for the country.

  7. I took the political ideology survey and I got next generation left. This does not surprise me that much. I would describe my views on our country and politics to to mixed, and that is what the survey reflected. This is also what I got on the survey in class.

  9. I took the political ideology and my results showed that based on the answers I gave to the questions, I am a moderate. Those results are a little different from the quiz I took in class which showed I'm a strong liberal. I see how I can be seen as a moderate leaning more towards the left because of my differing opinions on certain topics, but I definitely think I'm more liberal than anything else.

  10. I took the Political Typology Survey and my results showed that based on the questions I was asked, I am slightly to the left of moderate. The results were the exact same from the survey we took in class. I am not surprised because some of the questions I agreed with were towards the conservative side. So that's why I'm moderate but slightly to the left.

  13. I took the Political Ideology Survey for this assignment. I was somewhat surprised with my results. In this survey, I got moderate liberal, but in class I was one of the most liberal students in the class with a score of a 3 out of 25. I believe that I don't have much of an opinion on the questions on this survey like I did with the one we took in class.

  14. I took the Political Typology survey and best fit into the group called 'Young Outsider' along with 13% of the public. This group is said to hold a mix of conservative and liberal views however more lean toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party. This result is comparable to the 12 I scored on the 25 question survey we took in class - moderate. I was left leaning on the survey taken in class but am right leaning on this survey which surprised me. I have always thought of myself as a fairly liberal person.

  17. I took the Political Typology survey, and it said I am a "solid liberal." This matches perfectly with my result of the survey we took in class, which was a score of 1. I felt like these quizzes asked very similar questions, so it does not surprise me that both indicated that I am a strong liberal. I learned that as a young person without much financial responsibility, I tend to support helping the poor and strengthening welfare programs.

  18. For this assignment, I took the Political Typology survey and the Political Ideology survey. For the Political Typology survey, my result was "solid liberal" and for the Political Ideology survey my result was "moderate liberal. Since my score from the class survey was 7 out of 25, which means I'm a liberal but also at the edge of being moderate, these results do not surprise me at all because they match perfectly with the results from class. I agree I'm very liberal, but since I'm at the fine line between liberal and moderate, there's no doubt I'll be joining the moderate group who still leans to the left in my later years.

  19. I took The Political Compass survey. For this survey very much like the one we did in class I am pretty liberal scoring a -2.63 but, on this survey it shows I am a little bit more leaning towards middle in which I was farther from the middle in the class survey that was conducted. I strongly believe that I will be liberal throughout my years as an adult, but I can also see as I begin to age and mature more that I could encounter leaning a little more to the left as I learn more about the US government systems.

  20. I took the political compass survey which showed that I am a left wing libertarian this is about the same as what the survey that I took in class said. I felt the questions in this survey were random and unusual. some I thought were irrelevant

  21. I took the Political Typology survey and wasn't surprised when it said I was a "Solid Liberal." It said that I favor the government giving aid to the poor, and the government should do more to solve national problems. Which is exactly how I feel. This survey score matches up very nicely with my score in class the other day, of 6/25, indicating that I was a strong liberal. The questions on this survey and the ones in class were very similar together so when the results on Political Typology said I was a "Solid Liberal" I wasn't surprised. I learned that I fit into the Faith and Family Left category on the Liberal side, which makes me a person with strong support for activist government with conservative attitudes on many social issues. -Sarah Taraba

  24. For this assignment I took the Political Ideology Survey, it told me that I was moderately liberal. This didn't surprise me at all since my mom is a liberal. As well as that in class we have been talking about how younger people tend to be more liberal and as we get older we tend to become a little bit more conservative. Also we have talked about women as being tending to be more liberal than conservative. Also, it matched my quiz in class so I was not that surprised. - Andrea Johnson

  25. I took the Political Ideology Survey and from results I am a moderate. I thought that I would have liberal views on most of the statements, but turns out I am more moderate than I thought. Compared to the survey in class, my results. differed. With the survey in class I scored 5 out of 25 which shows that I am very much a liberal compared to this survey where it shows I am a moderate. I was kind of shocked to find that this survey I took online told me I am a moderate, as I consider myself a very strong liberal. I assume that over the years I have gained some conservative views as I've gotten older, like we talked about in class.

  37. My survey of choice was the "Political Typology", which revealed my attitude to be more liberal than conservative. The classroom quiz, determining our opinions on different political situations, didn't give me a clear view of whether or not I was liberal or conservative. My results were both low, confusing what my views meant. The online test also showed differences in sides, but determined based on majority answers I am more liberal. I believe there is truth in this because I am supportive to change and programs that aid to other's well-being such as helping countries in need. Many characteristics of both liberals and conservatives have great intensions and reasoning behind their beliefs but mine seem to shift towards the democratic views.

However, this time I wasn't too far from the middle so I would most likely be considered a moderate liberal. My ideals seem to revolve around helping those in need and wanting the government to provide services to help society as a whole.
