Since we are getting closer and closer to election day, here is a link to some voting data from the 2008 Presidential General Election state by state. Check out Minnesota....something I am sure you are all very proud of. Comments are welcome. Remember to post what you found out and then to comment on why that is significant or in this case your theory on what might cause the data to look the way it does.

i found in a midterm election, the vote for highest office is the highest vote tally for Governor, U.S. Senator, or combined House of Representatives. The voting-eligible population is the best estimate of the number of people eligible to vote. i think the reason the data look the way it does is because of the government of each of the states, how they handle the problems that goes on around in their area, their money issues, the votes, and the most important i personally think is the people. the way the people spend their money, and the crimes they do are the worst.

i think we had the highest turnout because we have a lot of people. it is so good that we have a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteIt was surprising to see that Minnesota had by far the highest VEP voter turnout for the 2008 presidential election. This could be caused by a combination of many factors. Those factors could be that more people in Minnesota have a strong sense of duty, or there is just a higher interest in politics. I believe that coverage by the media played a large roll in getting more people interested in the election, and the fact that in Minnesota you can register the day of the election helped with getting a larger turnout since it is less of a hassle than some states where you are required to register before you are allowed to vote.

I think that Minnesota probably had the highest VEP voter turnout for the 2008 presidental election because for the first time there was a black man running for president. Overall California had the moost votes with 13,743,974.

Reading this article surprised me, not just because of the number of votes and how many people there were but that Minnesota is actually alert for who will be the President in 2008. I also find it very surprising that Minnnesota has the highest VEP voter turnout. I just thought our state was a red neck state who joist cared about farming. Now that I have read this I think a little more attention to politics would benefit me.
