As you become more of an expert on our US Supreme Court, here is a link to our State Supreme Court. You may respond with content or comparison.

Enjoy,

  1. This was a very interesting site to roam around on. There is so much information and so much access to the public. I learned a couple of things. The Minnesota Supreme Court reviews petitions in about 900 cases a year and accepts review in about 1 in 8. Election contests and appeals to first degree murder are cases that go directly to the Supreme Court. I also learned that there are 7 judges at the state level, compared to the 9 at the US Supreme Court level. The Chief Justice is Lori Skjerven Gildea. There are also links to all of the rules set to all the courts and different types of cases. Those were very amusing to read as well.

  2. After looking over the website i was flooded with topics to respond with. But a few things that stood out was the jury service page as well as the fee page. The jury page was interesting, showing how anyone can become a jury member as well common questions a new jury member may ask. On the flip side the fee page showed all the payments you may have to make when going to court....i dont want to go to court!

  3. After surfing through the Minnesota Supreme Court link, I have acquired numerous materials about the Minnesota Judicial Branch. As Megan Byrne mentioned that each year the Supreme Court reviews approximately 900 cases, but accepts 1 out of 8 cases. I have also learned the mission of the Minnesota Supreme Court, in which to serve justice through a system of that promises equal attention for the fair and timely resolution of cases and controversies. I have also learned that the Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society was established, organized, and developed by lawyers, educators, judges, and other legal professionals who had a deep and abiding interest in the history of this State.
